Your next moves

Make the lesson yours.

  1. Measure something in the physical world.
  2. Open the Unplugged Break below. The short video introduces the activity; allow time to complete it away from your screen.
  3. Compare an estimate with a measurement and explain the difference.
  4. Complete the chapter reflection and save your portfolio work. Your instructor may run the chapter game and quiz separately.

Your activity / Right here

Bring a notebook. Begin below.

The activity is included on this page. Work on paper or in your own document; keep your first attempt and the evidence you checked.

Luna's Unplugged Break

Luna says: paws off the phone. No screens. A ruler or tape measure helps. About 15 minutes.

Measure something real and do math with it on paper. Choose one:

• Count your steps across a room. Measure one step, then estimate the room's length.

• Take a recipe and work out the amounts for half as many people, or twice as many.

• Time a walk over a distance you know, then figure out your speed.

Why it matters: math you can touch and measure is math you understand.

Values Check

Which of your core values shows up when you report a result you did not expect? Write one sentence about a time when being honest mattered more than having a neat answer.

Exit Ticket

One thing I will keep human this week, and why:

Pause & reflect

What changed in your thinking?

Write one sentence in your notebook. Name what you checked, what you chose, or what you want to explore next.

Read the video transcript

Read along, pause, or return to an idea. This transcript follows the selected lesson video.

Hi, I'm Luna. Paws off the phone. Today we measure. Pick something real. Count your steps across a room. Then measure one step with a ruler and estimate the room's length. Or take a favorite recipe and figure out the amounts for twice as many people. Or time a walk and work out your speed. Do all the math on paper, then check it a second way, like estimating first. No calculator app. No phone. Math you can touch is math you understand. Bring your numbers to class. See you next chapter.
Before you use an AI tool

Follow your course or institution's rules. Use an instructor-approved tool that permits your age, and meet any required consent conditions. Keep names, contact details, school records, and other private information out of prompts. Use fictional examples when you can.

Learning without an AI account

Follow the demonstration, pause before each answer, and do the reasoning on paper. Discuss what you would ask, how you would check it, and which decisions would remain yours.
